Multi-sport for kids in Oslo
11 options are listed under multi-sport for children in Oslo, across 7 districts, for ages 3 to 12. Below is the full overview with age, district and a link to sign-up.
Districts with an offering: Frogner, Grorud, Nordre Aker, Sagene, St. Hanshaugen, Søndre Nordstrand, Vestre Aker.
Multi-sport is one hour a week where children try different sports through the year: some weeks gymnastics, then ball games, then athletics, then something else entirely. It is run by the neighbourhood sports club, and is designed for children who want to start something without knowing what.
The age range is deliberately narrow. Multi-sport is in practice an offering from age three up to around twelve, and most move on to a single sport during primary school. That is exactly the point: multi-sport is meant to be a start, not a destination.
Worth knowing about multi-sport
This is the cheapest option in the catalogue after the youth clubs. The fee is low, equipment is borrowed or unnecessary, and training usually takes place in the local school gym.
Use the year to see what lights the child up. The point of switching sport every month is not the variety itself, but that you both learn what resonates before signing up for something that lasts a whole term.
