Day trips from Oslo with kids

Sandviksveien 130, 1365 Blommenholm

Art and culture house in a historic 1890 villa by the sea in Sandvika. The main draw for children is Sanseloftet, a 400 sqm sensory experience across nine rooms of colour, scent and light, for children aged 3-12 (adults only enter with a child). Note: located in Bærum, not Oslo municipality.

Asak Søndre gård, 1923 Sørum

One of Scandinavia's largest treetop climbing parks, with 44 zip lines and 24 colour-coded courses across 224 elements, about 30 minutes from Oslo. The 2026 season is over; it ran Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 4pm, without the tower.

Luhrtoppen 2, 1470 Lørenskog

A trampoline park at Luhrtoppen in Lørenskog, with trampolines, a ninja course, a climbing wall, a high ropes course and a BattleBeam. The park sets four age tiers, and children under three cannot jump.

Skoglistubben 21, 1470 Lørenskog

Large indoor entertainment centre (formerly Megafun, now part of the Skyland chain) with trampolines, a multi-storey play area, a laser play zone, 6D cinema and a wind tunnel. Note: located in Lørenskog, not Oslo municipality.

Kompveien 1031, 1925 Blaker

A visitor farm with many different animals: deer, horses, ponies, sheep, goats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pigs, chickens, peacocks, llamas, alpacas, donkeys and exotic birds. Note: located in Blaker (Aurskog-Høland/Fetsund area), about a 30-minute drive from Oslo.

Lundveien 3, 1900 Fetsund

An open-air museum and wetland centre where the Glomma meets Øyeren, about forty minutes from Oslo. Timber was floated and sorted here with booms until 1985, and the site stands as it was, with jetties, boats and buildings to walk between. There is open-air industrial history and wetland birdlife, and much of it is outdoors.

Fryds vei 25, 1407 Vinterbro

Norway's largest amusement park, about 20 km south of Oslo, with roller coasters, carousels and dedicated areas for small children. Tickets are sold by height rather than age: the park has one ticket for people between 95 and 120 cm and one for people over 120 cm.

Havnegata 4, 1441 Drøbak

An aquarium down by the harbour in Drøbak. More than 50 tanks from 30 litres to a 25,000-litre pool, with a children's tunnel, a jellyfish tank and a touch pool where children can handle creatures from the fjord.

Snøfonna 5, 1470 Lørenskog

Norway's only indoor ski centre, open all year with snow and sub-zero temperatures indoors. There are alpine slopes for all levels, a snowboard and freestyle park, a cross-country loop and a dedicated beginner area with a conveyor belt. For the youngest, SNØborgen is built for children aged three to ten, with climbing, snow tunnels and ice slides, and the ski school takes children year-round. Note: located in Lørenskog, not Oslo municipality, but easy to reach by shuttle bus from Lørenskog station.

Grini Næringspark 8, 1361 Østerås

Same concept as the Ulsrud branch: climbing frame, ball pit, tunnels, trampolines and slides. Toddler Day is a weekly session for toddlers. On Tuesdays there is a Sports Day at 189 kroner, and three visits cost 549 kroner.

Forneburingen 11, Flytårnet, 1360 Fornebu

Baby dance for parent and baby at Flytårnet on Fornebu, with music, rhythm, singing and simple movements. The class is set up so that feeding, sleeping, cuddling and a break along the way are perfectly normal. Note that Fornebu is in Bærum, not in the municipality of Oslo.

Kistefossveien 112, 3520 Jevnaker

Sculpture park and industrial museum at Jevnaker, about an hour from Oslo. Children and young people from 0 to 19 enter free. There is an activity park by the cafe, a foam pit and a hamster wheel in the industrial museum, and Jeppe Hein's water labyrinth «Path of Silence», where children get wet.

Vollsveien 13H, 1366 Lysaker

Climbing centre with dedicated children's rooms for children aged 2-10: a room with auto-belay for harness climbing, and a bouldering room with rope-free climbing for the youngest. No booking or experience required. Also offers climbing groups for ages 7-9, 10-13 and 13-18, plus climbing camps during school holidays.

Hyttegata 3, 3616 Kongsberg

A mine train 2.3 kilometres into the mountain, then 342 metres below ground in what was Norway's largest silver mine. The journey in is in open carriages and children are given helmets. It stays cool year-round, around six degrees, so bring a jumper even in July. The mine was worked for 335 years. About an hour and a half from Oslo.

Glassverkvegen 9, 3520 Jevnaker

The glass hut is the main reason to come: children stand behind a railing and watch glassblowers shape glowing glass right in front of them. Beyond that there is a playground, open workshops where children can make something themselves, and a small farm. Glassblowing runs Monday to Friday from ten to three, and the show is free. The site is large and flat, so prams are no problem. About an hour from Oslo by car.

Eidsvegen 90, 2166 Rånåsfoss

An outdoor pool by the Glomma river from 1961. The basin is partly carved out of the rock and warmed by cooling water from the power station, so it is swimmable early in the season. Children under 7 swim free. Note: it is in Nes, about 45 minutes from Oslo, and open only in the summer holiday.

In the 'Labben' workshop, creativity and your own ideas come first, and the museum writes that it is open to all visitors. The family offerings listed are the guided tour «Kunstdetektivene 2026» and «Drop in: Kunstsøndag» at Labben, but with no fixed times, so check the programme before you go. Children and young people under 18 enter free. Open Tuesday and Wednesday 11 to 17, Thursday 11 to 20 and Friday to Sunday 11 to 17, closed Monday (checked 24.10.2026).
