Baby screenings every weekday at 12:00 in Grünerløkka. Strollers are parked outside the auditorium, and sound and lighting are lowered so you can watch a current film with your baby on your lap.

Baby swimming for children aged 0 to 2, centrally located in St. Olavs gate. Focus on water safety, motor development, play and parent-child interaction, in small groups with close guidance.

Grønland 28, 0188 Oslo

Cafe and restaurant in a merchant's house from around 1730, which from 1839 to 1865 housed a children's asylum (hence the name) and later a hospital and Norway's first nursing school. The cafe has been running since 1993. The cobbled courtyard between the wings is large and sheltered from traffic. Calm rooms with plenty of space for a pram indoors, a changing table and high chairs.

The museum cafe at the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology by the Akerselva river, now run by Åpent Bakeri. Every other Monday at 11:00 at Manglerud Church. Manglerud Church, from 1963, is in Manglerud in the southeastern city. Here parents and babies meet for familiar children's songs, rhymes and rhythmic games in a safe setting.

A free open kindergarten for families with children aged 0 to 6 without a regular kindergarten place, in newly renovated premises with great play areas inside and out. Wednesdays 12 to 15 at Nordskrenten kindergarten, and Fridays 10:30 to 12:30 at the Deichman Holmlia library with language play and story time.

Restaurant and bar in the architecturally grand Kunstnernes Hus, serving from late morning to late evening, closed on Mondays. The outdoor seating area is large and airy with plenty of room for strollers, and the big, bright indoor space leaves room for both strollers and play. Kunstnernes Hus has its own changing facilities and an elevator to the upper floors by the reception.

Furuset senter, Oslo

Open kindergarten in the basement level of Furuset senter. A free drop-in meeting place where children aged 0-6 can play and parents on leave can meet others in the neighbourhood. Song circle is Tuesday and Friday at noon for ages nought to six, and Wednesday 12.15 and Thursday noon for the under-twos. The library holds a reading circle on Wednesday at 11.30, and play and read for two to six year olds on Thursday between 11.30 and 13.30. Usually closed in July.

Veitvet senter, Oslo

Open kindergarten for children aged 0-6 at Veitvet senter, Monday to Friday 10am-2pm (except Wednesdays). Free and drop-in, a nice regular meeting place during parental leave. The offer is for families living in the Bjerke district who do not have a kindergarten place.

Henrik Ibsens gate 36, 0255 Oslo

Pascal's largest patisserie, next door to the Palace Park. French cakes and desserts, chocolates, truffles and macarons, plus a warm lunch and simple dinner. Large, modern premises with room for a pram and high chairs. No dedicated changing table, but nappy changes are possible in the ladies' toilet. A short walk to the Palace Park if you want to head outside afterwards.

The cafe inside the House of Literature, serving everything from snacks to full meals. The same building holds the free children's room Sjeherasad for children up to 7, with a child-sized door, cushions and hundreds of picture books. On «Children's Saturday» they open the room and set up a children's cafe with hot dogs and waffles, reading sessions and concerts. There have been reports that prams are not allowed inside the cafe, and that no changing facilities were found.

A practical first aid course for parents and others who spend a lot of time with children, at Sentralen in Kvadraturen. The course covers examining a child, airway obstructions, febrile seizures, poisoning, child CPR, head injuries, fractures and burns. Costs around 1090 kroner and can also be joined online.

A dedicated "Mother and Child" group class and postpartum pilates where baby can join you in the session. LilleMyrens offers childcare from 6 weeks of age if you'd rather train without baby in the room. The centre is open Monday to Thursday from 6am to 10.30pm, Friday until 9pm, Saturday from 8am to 6pm and Sunday from 9am to 8pm.

Grønland kirke

Tuesdays at 12:30 at Grønland Church (for Gamlebyen and Grønland). Grønland Church, from 1868, is one of the city's older churches, in the middle of lively Grønland. At baby singing, parents and babies sing songs, rhymes and rhythmic games together, a calm, social drop-in during parental leave.

Bentsegata 6B, 0465 Oslo

A ceramics café where you can paint cups, plates, vases, and other ceramics while enjoying coffee and a cinnamon bun, a session takes about two hours, and the finished pieces are glazed and fired, ready for pickup about ten days later.

Darres gate 2, 0175 Oslo

Board-game bar and restaurant at Alexander Kiellands plass with more than 50 different board games on the shelves, free for guests to borrow. It opens at noon every day, and during the day it is calm and child-friendly, with room for prams, high chairs and a changing table in the toilet. Oslo municipality's open meeting place for parents with babies and toddlers in Nordstrand. Parents stay with their children throughout the visit, with flexible drop-in attendance. The venue has a permanent kindergarten teacher and psychiatric nurse on staff, plus a public health nurse and physiotherapist with set hours. Different age groups on different days: Mondays (0-4 months), Tuesdays and Thursdays (0-12 months), Wednesdays (0-3 years). Coffee, tea and waffles available for purchase. Completely free.

Ulvenveien 82E, 0581 Oslo

Mexican-inspired lunch bar at Økern with wraps, smoothies and coffee over the counter. The place is small, so it is more somewhere to grab something quickly than to settle in with a pram. In return they open at 7 on weekdays and 9 on Saturdays, which saves mornings when you are up early. Closed on Sundays.

Baby swimming run by Oslo Idrettslag (OI Svømming) and the Norwegian Life Saving Society, in a warm pool at Lovisenberg. Small groups focused on safety, water adjustment and play give your baby a gentle, reassuring start in the water.

Strandpromenaden 2, 0252 Oslo

On the last Friday of every month at 2pm there is a guided tour for parents with children up to two years old. The tour moves at a calm pace and adapts to participants big and small, and it is included in the entrance ticket. There is room for 30 on a first-come basis, so arrive in good time. The museum recommends a baby carrier rather than a stroller.

Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:00, with room for 12. A ten-class pass costs NOK 1,449 and drop-in NOK 179; a regular membership also gives access, and it applies across the Functional Fitness Group centres. The "Start" level (led by a physiotherapist) builds up the deep core muscles and prepares the body for further training, suitable from 6 weeks after a vaginal birth/8 weeks after a C-section. The "Advanced" level (led by a personal trainer) is higher intensity and focuses on the major muscle groups. Limited spots, book your course on the website.

Open kindergarten on the lower ground floor of Grünerløkka health centre, Mondays and Thursdays 9am-3pm, for children aged 0-3. A free drop-in meeting place where children play and parents meet others.

St. Hanshaugen park, Oslo

Outdoor training for new parents with stroller/baby in St. Hanshaugen park, run by AktivBootCamp. Both mothers and fathers are welcome, and the training is adapted to each participant's level. Interval training and strength exercises suited to life after birth, with your baby along, a nice way to get in shape and meet others in the same stage. They recommend waiting at least 6 weeks after birth before starting, at least 8 weeks after a caesarean. They train outdoors all year round whatever the weather, and the first session is free.

A two-hour ceramics course designed for those on parental leave with the baby along. You get an introduction to clay and simple hand-building techniques and make your own small pieces; clay and materials are included in the price of 800 kroner. There is room for prams inside the workshop, and the pace allows breaks for feeding, nappy changes and cuddles. No experience needed. The course is scheduled at intervals, so check the booking page for the next date.

Veitvetveien 8, 0596 Oslo

A free, open meeting place for families run by the Red Cross, at Veitvetveien 8 (Veitvet centre, 3rd floor). Open to all families on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 4:30-7:30pm, and Saturdays noon-3pm for outings, no registration needed. Wednesdays also feature Norwegian language classes 5-7pm with light refreshments. Families can join free weekly summer outings, including to Tusenfryd, Frognerseteren, the Norwegian Museum of Science and Technology, Ekeberg petting zoo, Oslo climbing park and Jumpyard.

Neighbourhood restaurant in the old industrial courtyard at Ljabru Verk, with a Neapolitan pizza oven and a charcoal grill. The courtyard seats over a hundred and has boules, so the children have something to do between courses. Baby changing and high chairs available, and easy to get in with a pram.

Postnatal yoga at Lilleaker for those past their six-week check, focusing on breath, pelvic floor and core at a safe pace. Your baby joins in, either actively in the exercises or by your side, and the classes are combined with songs and rhymes.

A free open kindergarten for children aged 0 to 6 living in the Stovner district, with regular drop-in Monday to Wednesday and room for 20 children. A free open kindergarten at Fjeldlund barnehage in Holmlia, Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm. It runs in one of the kindergarten's own rooms and has been running since 2 September 2026. For children aged 0 to 6, with no application or sign-up: you simply turn up together. Led by kindergarten staff, with an emphasis on play, language and meeting other families in the neighbourhood.

Frognerparken (ved Hundejordet), 0268 Oslo

Anne pa Landet's cafe sits in Frogner Park, serving handmade food, home baking and lunch with plenty of outdoor seating in the middle of the park. Open daily 11-19 all year (closed Christmas Eve), making it an easy stop mid-walk with a pram. There is lots of room for prams outdoors, while the indoor area is limited.
