The first Tuesday of each month at 1pm, the National Museum holds a baby tour, a 45-minute guided tour tailored to parents on parental leave. The museum recommends a baby carrier rather than a stroller. The café on the 2nd floor has comfortable seating where you can relax for an hour or so afterward. No sign-up required.

Strandpromenaden 2, 0252 Oslo

On the last Friday of every month at 2pm there is a guided tour for parents with children up to two years old. The tour moves at a calm pace and adapts to participants big and small, and it is included in the entrance ticket. There is room for 30 on a first-come basis, so arrive in good time. The museum recommends a baby carrier rather than a stroller.

The Intercultural Museum at Grønland (part of Oslo Museum) offers baby tours for parents on leave, with plenty of time, a calm pace and room for wonder and conversation. The museum recommends a baby carrier since prams cannot be brought into the exhibitions, but prams can be parked in the backyard and there is a changing room.

Kunstnernes Hus invites parents on leave, grandparents and others with children under two to relaxed baby tours of the exhibitions, with a workshop and gathering in Atelier Felix afterwards. Baby sounds and nursing breaks are welcome, and mats are laid out for babies to lie and crawl on. Check their program for the next tour.

On the first Tuesday of the month at 1pm there is a baby tour of the exhibitions, arranged for carers on parental leave who want a bit of cultural nourishment. The tour itself is free, but the adult needs a valid museum ticket. Sign-up happens at the information desk in the Vestibule on the day, and places are limited. Strollers can be parked in the museum basement.

The Natural History Museum runs baby tours every Tuesday 12:30 to 13:00, adapted for parents with children up to two years old. Themes rotate between the exhibitions, from animals and crystals to the Climate House and the Botanical Garden. Tours are included in the museum ticket, while baby tours in the Botanical Garden are free and stroller friendly. Room for feeding, crying and cheering along the way.

The City Museum in Frogner Park runs adapted baby tours of its exhibitions, including Tyvetallet, and at the Frogner Manor next door. In spring and autumn the museum also arranges daytime BaBy walks where you stroll and learn about the city at the same time. Prams can be parked in the courtyard, and the museum has a changing room and baby carriers for loan.

Every Monday 12 to 15, DNT keeps the bouldering room at Friluftshuset open exclusively for parents on leave, with the baby in a pram outside or on the mat. Bouldering is rope-free climbing on low walls, and you can come and go as you like. Costs 70 kroner for DNT members and 80 for others, climbing shoes can be rented. Closed during school holidays.

Olaf Helsets vei 5, 0694 Oslo

Oslo climbing centre at Skullerud runs parental leave climbing every Wednesday 11 to 13, with the music off and few other visitors, and a dad meetup on Thursdays 11 to 13 where new fathers climb and meet others climbing with kids. The centre has playpens, a changing table and a café with high chairs, two minutes from the metro.

The "Start" level (led by a physiotherapist) builds up the deep core muscles and prepares the body for further training, suitable from 6 weeks after a vaginal birth/8 weeks after a C-section. Strength training for new mothers focused on the abdomen, back, and pelvic floor, using baby as a "weight" during part of the session. The course runs for 8 weeks (8 sessions of 45 minutes, plus one lecture), split into two levels: from 6 weeks (level 1) and from 12 weeks (level 2) after birth.
