A free open kindergarten for children aged 0 to 5 in the Østensjø district, with drop-in Monday to Wednesday 10:30 to 14:30. Thursdays are reserved for the Bluesmothers group and Fridays for children over 18 months without a kindergarten place. Close cooperation with the health clinic, and parents stay with their child throughout.

A free open kindergarten at Slime farm in Søndre Nordstrand, Thursdays and Fridays 9 to 14. Singing, play and seasonal table activities, using the kindergarten playground. A shared meal is eaten together, so bring your own food. Closed during school holidays.

Åslandhellinga 1, 1274 Oslo

A free open kindergarten at Taranrød barnehage in Bjørndal, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm. Note that this one does not open until 3 November 2026, later than the two other new sites in the district. For children aged 0 to 6, with no application or sign-up. The kindergarten is centrally placed in Bjørndal, close to sports facilities and public transport.

Hoff Terrasse 20, 0275 Oslo

A meeting place for children and parents in the Ullern district, Tuesdays and Thursdays, for children without a regular kindergarten place. A varied play program with experienced educators, and every other Thursday a physiotherapist and public health nurse are present. Costs 50 kroner per visit (free for minority language families), bring your own food and drink.

Furuset senter, Oslo

Open kindergarten in the basement level of Furuset senter. A free drop-in meeting place where children aged 0-6 can play and parents on leave can meet others in the neighbourhood.

Lusetjernveien 2, 1253 Oslo

A free open kindergarten for families with children aged 0 to 6 without a regular kindergarten place, in newly renovated premises with great play areas inside and out. Wednesdays 12 to 15 at Nordskrenten kindergarten, and Fridays 10:30 to 12:30 at the Deichman Holmlia library with language play and story time.

Thursdays host a small group for families needing extra support, and Fridays a language café where parents practice Norwegian while the children play.

A free open kindergarten at Fjeldlund barnehage in Holmlia, Mondays and Wednesdays from 10am to 2pm. It runs in one of the kindergarten's own rooms and opens on 2 September 2026. For children aged 0 to 6, with no application or sign-up: you simply turn up together. Led by kindergarten staff, with an emphasis on play, language and meeting other families in the neighbourhood.

Øvre Prinsdals vei 8, 1266 Oslo

A free open kindergarten at Elverhøy barnehage in Hauketo, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10am to 2pm, from 1 September 2026. For children aged 0 to 6, with no application or sign-up. The kindergarten sits centrally in Hauketo and has play areas both indoors and out. One of four sites that together give the Søndre Nordstrand district an open kindergarten every weekday.

Open kindergarten at Grorud, open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays 9:30am-2pm. Free and drop-in, where children aged 0-6 play and parents meet others in the area.

Open kindergarten in Kjelsås, weekdays 10am-1:30pm, for children aged 0-2. A free drop-in meeting place and a calm, safe setting for the very youngest and their parents.

A free open kindergarten in the white wooden house at Nedre Fossum farm next to Stovner health clinic, for children aged 0 to 6 living in the district. Drop-in Tuesday to Friday with 15 places, and a dedicated baby group for the youngest (0 to 10 months) on Mondays 12 to 15. Coffee and tea are served, bring a packed lunch.

Bøler, Oslo

Open kindergarten at Bøler, open Monday to Thursday 9am-2pm, with Wednesday as outing day. It costs 25 kroner a day, but there is no sign-up and you can come as often as you like. A nice regular meeting place where children play and parents on leave meet others.
