Oslo is one of few capitals where children can ski straight from the metro. Cross-country groups in the forest clubs start with ski play from around three or four, alpine skiing is based in the slopes on the city's edge, and skating and figure skating use the rinks laid each winter.

Worth knowing about the winter sports
