KFUK-KFUM scouts meeting at Mortensrud parish centre. Søndre Nordstrand is the Oslo district with the highest share of children from minority backgrounds, and the scout groups here are among the offerings that bring children together across backgrounds without costing anything to join. The youngest are called oppdagere and spend their time on play and discovery trips locally; from year 3 they become stifinnere, and from year 5 vandrere, where cooperation and eventually leadership training take up more room.
