AKS in Oslo: the price, and the free part-time place
AKS is Oslo's after-school programme, what other municipalities call SFO. The free part-time place in years 1 to 3 is not means-tested, not limited to some schools, and you do not need to document your income to get it.
A part-time place in years 1 to 3 is free for everyone, whatever your income.

Prices for year 4
From year 4 the picture changes for the highest incomes: both full-time and part-time cost something. The exception is Alna, Bjerke, Gamle Oslo, Grorud, Stovner and Søndre Nordstrand, where the part-time place in year 4 is free for everyone in the 2026/2027 school year.

Eleven months, not twelve
July is not billed, because AKS is closed. So you pay for eleven months a year, which needs factoring in when comparing with kindergarten fees. Payment is in advance.
Food is included in the fee, and amounts to 51 kroner. There is no separate food bill on top.
Reduced price on a low income
There is a national scheme for reduced payment, with an upper income limit of NOK 653,583. If your household is below it, and the fee would exceed 6 per cent of your income, you are entitled to a reduction. You apply through the parent portal.
Note that this applies to a full-time place. If your child is in years 1 to 3 and part-time is enough, the place is free regardless, and there is nothing to apply for.
AKS is closed for parts of the holidays. The school calendar shows which weeks, so you know what needs covering.
