A string orchestra for children from age 6, founded in 1955, rehearsing at Marienlyst and Ullevål schools. You do not have to attend either school; the orchestra has members from across the city. Membership includes a weekly individual lesson on violin, cello, viola or double bass, and the instrument is lent by the orchestra rather than bought or rented. There are three ensembles: a beginners' orchestra, a main orchestra and a chamber group. The year includes house concerts, a Christmas concert, Oslo music school's spring concert at the Oslo Concert Hall, and seminars in autumn and spring. Approved for the Oslo leisure card.
