The school band at Ljan in the south of the city, with its own aspirant band for the youngest. New members usually start in second or third grade, borrow an instrument from the band and get weekly instrument tuition in addition to ensemble playing. The upper age limit in a school band is the school year you turn 19, so many stay for seven or eight years.
