Teater Manu

Teater

Christies gate 5, 0557 Oslo

Norway's national sign language theatre, which says itself that it has premises and a stage in Grünerløkka and performs for children, young people and adults. The performances run in Norwegian sign language and speech at the same time, so they work for deaf and hearing audiences in the same room, and there are few other places where a deaf or signing family can see theatre in their own language. The family production «Peter Pan, Under en magisk måne» runs for about an hour. The theatre was founded by the Norwegian Association of the Deaf in 2003 and has several Hedda award nominations behind it. It tours a great deal, so the number of Oslo dates per production is small, and the schedule on their website is the place to check well in advance. The theatre states no recommended age for its performances.
