Oslo's municipal school of culture runs dedicated holiday courses for children and youth at culture stations around the city, with week-long daytime courses in dance, theatre, drawing, music and more, taught by the school's own teachers. A great way to explore a new art form without committing to a full school year. It is not only a summer thing: for the 2026 autumn break the programme listed «Høstferieverksted: Skulptur og stein» for children and youth aged 10 and up, and «Høstferiekurs Beatcamp» for children aged 10 to 13. The city states that courses are published closer to each school holiday, so what is on offer varies from holiday to holiday. See the city's website for this year's courses and registration.
Dates, prices and registration change from break to break and are always up to date with the organiser. Registration often opens early in the year, and the most popular programmes fill up fast.
