The Red Cross holiday programme for families, with accommodation, food and activities covered, run in several of the school holidays. The scheme is intended for families who have had a weak financial situation over time. How a family gets a place, by applying directly or by referral from NAV, the school health service or child welfare services, is explained on the Red Cross website. Check there well before the holiday.
The programme is run by Red Cross volunteers for families who live in poverty and could not otherwise afford a holiday.
Dates, prices and registration change from break to break and are listed with the organiser. Registration often opens early in the year, and some programmes fill up early.
